My work focuses on the daily performances that everyone takes on every day-- these can range from acts as broad to job responsibilities to as rigid as performance of gender roles. Who are we when we take on these roles and why are they impacted by the world around us.  My work manifests in printmaking, fibers, and installation. This variety of mediums allows me to explore these concepts in different ways.

Content-wise my work explores the limiting factors that hyper masculinity puts on our daily performances. A repeating subject in my printed work are clowns which represent multiple aspects of performance including: queer bodies and expression, masculine forms in positions of vulnerability, and a subject who is expected to perform. In my fibers work I continue this exploration through projects that are historically considered to be feminine such as sewing or beading— craftwork which has been deemed less than due to a misogynistic discredit to what is considered to be “craft” over art.
